The Colfax School District Board of Directors will participate in a joint board work session with Whitman Community Hospital and the Port of Whitman to discuss childcare needs in Whitman County. The session will be held at 6:00 p.m. on June 9, 2026 at the Whitman County Library.
The Colfax School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Hunter as the next principal of Colfax Junior/Senior High School.
Hunter currently serves as principal of Enterprise Junior/Senior High School in Enterprise, Oregon, where she has earned a reputation for strong communication, collaborative leadership, and developing systems that support both students and staff.
Hunter was selected following a comprehensive process that included staff interviews, student interviews, and a community forum. Feedback from all stakeholder groups showed strong enthusiasm for her leadership and vision for the future of Colfax Junior/Senior High School.
“I am excited to welcome Megan Hunter to the Colfax community,” said incoming Superintendent Troy Whittle. “Throughout the interview process, Megan shared a compelling vision for the future of Colfax Junior/Senior High School, demonstrating both enthusiasm and a commitment to building on the great work already taking place. Her strong communication skills, collaborative approach, and focus on supporting students and staff were evident throughout the process.”
Hunter officially assumes the position on July 1 and will join the Colfax School District leadership team in preparation for the 2026–27 school year.
